Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

Join me in supporting real change. Just a small donation will go a long way to helping Education First give scholarships and college coaching to low-income students. These students have already overcome so many challenges, and they need our help to realize their dream of a college education.

At the beginning of her junior year, Yesenia lost her father to a heart attack leaving behind her mother and siblings. She was determined to stay strong for her mother and take on the financial burden their family faced. Her grades significantly dropped due to the responsibilities of paying for household bills as well as grieving for the loss of her father. She brought her grades up and did so while contributing to community building initiatives. She began attending CSU Channel Islands this year and is pursuing a degree in psychology.

Shanique has faced hardships from a young age. She immigrated to the US from a very poor part of Jamaica and has always been focused on her education. She has experienced pressure from coaches to pursue her talent in track, but due to fear of injury she is committed to paying for her education through academic scholarships. She is attending San Diego community college and is planning to transfer to a 4-year university.

Both Yesenia and Shanique are the first members of their family to attend college and it would not have been possible without the scholarships they received from Education First's fundraising event last year. The three San Diego schools - Lincoln, Crawford, and Morse High School - from which students are selected have 80% of the student population on assisted lunch programs. This means that 80% of the children at our local high schools are living just around the poverty line. An education is their path to a better life.

Your donation means so much!
