Thank you for visiting EducationFirst fundraising page for Boston!

Join me in supporting real change. Just a small donation will go a long way to helping Education First give scholarships and college coaching to low-income students. These students have already overcome so many challenges, and they need our help to realize their dream of a college education.

This year's scholars are Jhonn Polanco from Urban Science Academy and Stacey Fragile from Brockton High School.

Jhonn and his family emigrated from the Dominican Republic in 2007. In 2008, his father lost everything and Jhonn and his family experienced homeslessness and the discrimination often connected with being an indigent immigrant. Jhonn was inspired by his father's tireless efforts to regain his footing in the US and, at 16, he established a nonprofit organization called "Change U." It was not a success but he realized that he needed more education and experience to become an effective agent of change and be able to give back to his community in a meaningful way. He will attend U-Mass-Boston where he intends to pursue a degree in Economics, while also maintaining a part-time job to help finance his education.

At age 15, after her mother kicked her out of the house, Stacey Fragile was living in a group home awaiting the birth of her daughter whom she named "Serenity" after the prayer. During that time, she described herself as a prisoner of the Department of Children and Family Services, but was later placed in a Teen Living Program. While Stacey has reunited with her mother, her experience in this system molded her into the strong young woman she is today and served as the foundation for her career choice. Stacey intends to help rebuild the system to make it better for others. She will attend U-Mass-Dartmouth where she will prepare for a career as a social worker.

Please donate to help fund the scholarships for Jhonn and Stacey. Your donation means so much!
