I am raising money to provide needed college scholarships and coaching to students like Jorge Meraz that have overcome severe adversity to pursue a college degree. Despite facing hardship, he plans to study construction management at Colorado State University and assist his father in the family business. Here in Portland, students from David Douglas, Madison and Roosevelt are encouraged to apply for these scholarships.
I volunteer for Education First where we identify and support low-income seniors in high school who are determined to graduate from college. On average, an individual with a degree can earn over a million dollars more in a lifetime than someone with just a high school diploma.
Help me close the financial gap for underrepresented students by making sure next year's recipients won't see a drop in their scholarship amounts.
