$11,845 towards $3,000

I am raising money to provide needed college scholarships and coaching to low income youth that have overcome severe adversity to pursue a degree.

Education First identifies and provides college scholarships and support to low-income seniors to help break the cycle of generational poverty. We work closely with local high school counselors to identify applicants - each award recipient has shown their ability and determination to overcome obstacles and graduate from college. In order to help them succeed, Education First also provides a professional college completion coach for each scholarship recipient. For those who are first in their families to go to college, the first couple of years are critical to avoiding dropout. Coaches assist with financial aid, class selection and other key decisions that keep them in school.

In the spirit of this outlandish year, it seemed only fitting to do something a bit different - hence this 2020 Lend A Leg For Learning fundraising campaign. In the spirit of helping kids who have been fighting hard for their education, a group of upstanding gents have agreed to subject one of their beautifully hairy legs to a wax strip. We have one even offering to wax their whole leg and then some brave souls who says if we DOUBLE the fundraising goal by December 31st or if one generous donor gives a gift of $500, they will allow their child (6 or under) to pull a strip. An impressive bunch! Upon completion of our goal, a video of all this bravery for a good cause will be posted - the link to the video will be posted here by January 31st as well as emailed out to all donors and participants.

Reduced 2020 Donations are Causing a Fall in Scholarship Amounts

Help us close the financial gap for underrepresented students by making sure next year's recipients won't see a drop in their scholarship amounts.

Thank you for your support!
